Wouldn’t recommend for young children! As I am not one to write a review….i couldn’t let this one slide! I’m really disappointed with our experience at Mermaid Smiles. My seven-year-old needed multiple fillings, and instead of showing patience and understanding, there was a clear lack of compassion during what was already a stressful situation for a child. When my child became upset, rather than handling it with care, the response felt dismissive and insensitive. Laughing while a child is visibly distressed is not an appropriate way to manage fear—especially in a dental setting where anxiety is so common. I also found it concerning that they refused to complete the filling the following day. It felt like the preference was to leave a child in discomfort rather than approach the situation with empathy and flexibility. In which they also referred me to a specialist which I would’ve had to wait an extra week to see as they have no space! I ended up booking an appointment with another dental clinic who took him in straight away and put a feeling in the tooth mermaid smiles refused to put one in. I don’t believe this necessarily reflects the values of the owner, but it does highlight that some staff—whether dentists or hygienists—could benefit from a more compassionate, child-friendly approach. A little patience and understanding can make a huge difference in shaping how children feel about dental care long-term. Georgia explained everything in a comforting way that made me feel at ease. Removed the offending tooth quickly, with little fuss and provided fantastic aftercare advice. I couldn’t have asked for better service and could not recommend them highly enough.

Every step was explained carefully and I can honestly say I walked out of this delightful practice with a renewed faith in dentists. Thank you to the lovely Mermaid Smiles team.

The best dentist on the Gold Coast! 10/10 service from the moment you walk inside. The girls are so delightful, If you are afraid of going to the dentist then this is where you need to go! The entire team here is warm and friendly. After my first visit (check-up & discussion about fixing an onlay done very poorly by a previous dentist) I left and told my partner that it's as though everyone who works there, actually wants to be there. The smiles are genuine and so is the care. I don't say this lightly. My previous dental clinic (that looked all fancy) shattered my trust in dentists. When I told the dentist that I still felt pain when he was drilling, he questioned me as though I was imagining it. I was left with an onlay that felt like a brick in my mouth for 3 years. There was no care or acknowledgement that it was the wrong fit and should be remade. After my first visit with Mermaid smiles, I felt I was in safe hands with Dr. Charleston and entrusted her to remove the previous onlay and fix it for me. This had always been a problematic tooth for me and left very sensitive after anyone worked on it. Not only did she fix the onlay perfectly, my tooth was not even sensitive in the slightest. Her attention to detail is next level and I am so appreciative of the care she showed to make this right for me. Thank you to the entire team for providing quality of service and a calm space.
